Many people ask this hard to answer question. After comparing all main stream browsers I fount that latest version of Opera is the best choice. Thought my faverout browser is Google Chrome, but if internet connection is very slow then I recommended use of latest Opera. 11.1
For slower connection Opera has a built in Turbo Mode, this feature consderably reduce loading time of web pages. Actualy Opera works in a different way, when you request Opera to open a web page like google.com, the page is first loaded to Opera Server and then compressed version of page is created which is then loaded at your machine. But in other browsers pages are directly loaded to your machine. This makes Opera economi when you pay internet on volume bases as for example if you pay per byte.
This method of browsing doesnot change the look of pages, but the quality of images is compromised for sure. And I think this is not a big deal, the advantage in form of speed is quite large.
The Turbo mode feature was introduced in Opera 10 but in new Opera 11.1 image compressing is being done using Google's WebP image format instead of .jpg. This made the feature more productive as now lesser bytes are used and quality is improved consderably. Given below is comparison of two images, one loaded using normal browser (Mozila FireFox in my case) and other using Opera Turbo with WebP based compression. Check results:
You Will agree that image quality is not bad, and if you have slower connection, you can compromise that much. And if we imagine result of a whole browsing session then believe me many MBs cab be saved. The other innovative feature of Opera is 'Unite' that turns your computer into a server with a click.

The type of Internet connection you use is the most important factor in determining your connection speed. The three most common ways to connect to the Internet from home are dial-up, DSL, and cable. If you have a choice, cable is usually the fastest, but both DSL and cable are faster than dial-up.
